WIP Wednesday – Downeast (Cables)

Hello fellow crafters! Are you ready for Autumn, yet?  I know I am!  This past Sunday, the weather here took it’s first true temperature nosedive.  For the first time since last winter, I was able to wear tights, and a hand-knit shawl.  I was so giddy with excitement that I almost forgot to take photos of my progress on my Downeast pullover.

After knitting through several train rides to and from Philly, I finished the Interrupted Rib cowl portion of the sweater and moved on to the raglan increases.  The cable chart for the front of the pullover is worked simultaneously with the raglan increases.

This chart includes 3 – 6 cable crosses per row, which in the grand scheme of things is not a lot.  However, using a cable needle for each of these crosses can start to become a bit of a hassle over and over again.  Crossing your cables without a cable needle is a great way to save yourself time and energy.  I should probably start following my own advice, but alas, I’ve used a cable needle for every single cross so far.  I get some kind of simple joy out crossing each of these cables.  With each row I complete I can see this sweater coming together.

Well friends, keep on keeping on.  Perhaps next week you may actually see my face!  I hope to be moving on to the body of the sweater this week, so at some point, I will be trying it on, to make sure it fits.
