WIP Wednesday – Downeast (Tubular Cast-On)
With Summer coming to an end, I’ve begun thinking about the cool Autumn weather. While I’d be perfectly happy with a mild winter, as we had this summer, I’m preparing myself for a cold and snowy season. I’ve been conjuring up all sorts of ideas for knitting projects.
After falling head over heels in love with American Lamb, our bulky wool yarn, I decided that I need to have a cozy sweater to wrap myself in. If last year’s weather was any indication to what we’re going to experience this year, I’ll certainly be needing it. I’m knitting the Downeast pullover in our colorway Olive Jar. It’s perfect pattern and yarn harmony. The pattern is written by Alicia Plummer, and is available as a pdf download through her Ravelry pattern store. She has many designs that I’m pining to knit.
I’m joining in on the WIP (Work in Progress) Wednesday crowd, and will be posting my progress as I go. This pattern is knit seamlessly from the top down, starting with the cowl, with a Tubular Cast-On. This particular cast-on was new to me, and I found it to be a bit tricky when worked in the round with a large number of stitches. It was difficult to make sure that the stitches were not twisted when I began knitting. I found Ysolda’s tutorial very helpful in learning how to do this nearly invisible cast-on.
See you next week with more!
