WIP Wednesday – Fun with Mill Ends
While the American Lamb pullover is still a WIP, I assure you, it will be finished this Fall. It certainly is starting to actually feel like Fall/Winter here in Philadelphia. It’s snowing as I write this, in fact!
In the meantime, I took a break to have some fun with mill ends, specifically our Style # 5651 which is a hot pink and black seed yarn. By itself, it’s not much to look at, but pair it with another yarn, and it shines! This yarn is great for both knitting or crochet, weaving, spinning,
I’m working on a basic slouchy hat, holding a hand-dyed yarn with #5651. I love how the black binder in the seed yarn practically disappears, and I’m left with pops of hot pink throughout my fabric. You can see in the following pictures how the hot pink pops up now and then adding an interesting texture to what would normally be a pretty boring (albeit pretty) hat.
For fun, we also wove a small sample fabric with it paired with Wayfarer in Bordeaux. My next plan for this yarn is to use it as a plying thread with my handspun!
The possibilities are endless, unleash your creativity with some novelty mill ends! Happy Thanksgiving everyone, stay warm and enjoy your time with family and/or friends!
